Written as questions, because that is the order people actually want them in.
Ilford Removals is the data controller for personal information collected through ilford-removals.uk. This page explains how we handle it under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What do you ask for?
The quote form asks for seven things: your name, your phone number, your email address, the address you are moving out of, the address you are moving to, a moving date if you have one, and any notes you want to add. The last two are optional.
If you email or call instead, we hold whatever you choose to tell us plus the contact details the message arrives with. If you go on to book, we also hold the survey record and the job paperwork that goes with it.
What do you use it for?
- To answer you and prepare a quote — steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- To carry out a move you have booked — performance of a contract.
- To arrange access: where your road needs a parking dispensation from Redbridge, or your block or managing agent needs a lift booking, the relevant details go to them.
- To prepare customs paperwork on a move that crosses a border, which means sharing what the declaration requires with customs authorities and clearing agents.
- To keep the records we are obliged to keep, including accounting and insurance records.
We do not sell your information, we do not pass it to anyone unrelated to your move, and asking for a quote does not put you on a mailing list.
Does anyone else see it?
- Our website and form hosting provider, which handles the submission in transit.
- Our email provider.
- Google reCAPTCHA, which checks a submission is not automated. Google's own privacy terms cover that check.
- Google Analytics, where it is switched on, for aggregate page statistics.
- The London Borough of Redbridge, or a managing agent, where a parking dispensation or a building booking for your move requires it.
- Clearing agents and customs authorities — international moves only, and only what the declaration needs.
Are there cookies?
No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no profiling. Where Google Analytics is enabled it loads only after the page has finished rendering and is used to see which pages are useful. reCAPTCHA loads only once you start filling in the quote form. Blocking either will not stop you contacting us.
How long does it stay?
Enquiries that do not turn into bookings are deleted once they are plainly no longer live. Records of completed moves are kept for as long as accounting, tax and insurance obligations require, then deleted. Customs paperwork is kept for whatever period the relevant authority sets.
How is it protected?
The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry and job records is limited to the people who need them to do the work.
What rights do I have?
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold, correct anything wrong, delete it where we are not required to keep it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to another provider in a portable format.
Email hello@ilford-removals.uk and we will deal with it inside the statutory period. If you are unhappy with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
